রিমালের প্রভাবে দেশের দক্ষিণের জেলাগুলোতে গতকাল রোববার থেকে বৃষ্টি শুরু হয়ে আজ সোমবার সকাল ১০টায় শেষ খবর পাওয়া পর্যন্ত ঝরছিল। জোয়ারের পানিতে নিম্নাঞ্চলগুলো প্লাবিত হয়েছে। ভারী বৃষ্টি আর জোয়ারের পানিতে দুর্ভোগে পড়েছেন বাসিন্দারা। বেশ কয়েকটি জেলা বিদ্যুৎহীন আছে। এ পর্যন্ত সাতক্ষীরা, পটুয়াখালী ও ভোলায় তিনজনের মৃত্যুর খবর পাওয়া গেছে।
খুলনা: ভারী বৃষ্টিতে প্লাবিত হয়েছে খুলনা নগরের নিম্নাঞ্চল। নগরের বিভিন্ন এলাকায় গাছ উপড়ে পড়েছে। খুলনা শহর ও জেলার প্রায় পুরোটাই বিদ্যুৎ–বিচ্ছিন্ন হয়ে আছে। গতকাল রোববার রাত থেকে শুরু হওয়া ভারী বৃষ্টিতে নগরের মুজগুন্নী, লবণচরা, মোল্লাপাড়া, টুটপাড়া, মহিরবাড়ি খাল পাড়, শিপইয়ার্ড সড়ক, চানমারী বাজার, রূপসাসহ বিভিন্ন এলাকা পানিতে তলিয়ে গেছে। এখনো ওই সব সড়কে পানি আছে। আজ সকাল নয়টার দিকে খুলনা শহরে বাতাসসহ বৃষ্টি হচ্ছে। শহরের বেশির ভাগ দোকানপাট বন্ধ। রাস্তাঘাট প্রায় যানবাহন ও জনমানবশূন্য।
খুলনা আবহাওয়া কার্যালয়ের জ্যেষ্ঠ আবহাওয়াবিদ মো. আমিরুল আজাদ প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, ঘূর্ণিঝড় রিমালের প্রভাবে গতকাল সন্ধ্যা ছয়টা থেকে আজ সকাল নয়টা পর্যন্ত খুলনা নগরে ৭৩ মিলিমিটার বৃষ্টি হয়েছে। এর মধ্যে সকাল ছয়টা থেকে নয়টা পর্যন্ত ৮ মিলিমিটার বৃষ্টি হয়েছে। ঘূর্ণিঝড় রিমাল এখনো খুলনা অঞ্চল ছেড়ে যায়নি। এই ঘূর্ণিঝড়ের প্রভাবে আজ সারা দিন দমকা বাতাসসহ বৃষ্টি চলবে। আগামীকাল মঙ্গলবার পরিস্থিতি স্বাভাবিক হবে।
এদিকে খুলনার দাকোপ উপজেলায় জোয়ারে পানি উন্নয়ন বোর্ডের (পাউবো) বাঁধ ভেঙে লোকালয়ে পানি ঢুকছে। গতকাল রোববার দিবাগত রাত দেড়টার দিকে উপজেলার শিবসা ও ঢাকী নদীর বাঁধ ভেঙে তিলডাঙ্গা ইউনিয়নের কামিনীবাসিয়া গ্রামের ৪ ও ৫ নম্বর ওয়ার্ড এলাকা তলিয়ে যায়।
তিলডাঙ্গা ইউনিয়নের ৫ নম্বর ওয়ার্ডের সদস্য ক্ষীতীশ গোলদার আজ সকাল সাড়ে ছয়টার দিকে বলেন, এত উঁচু জোয়ার আগে তিনি দেখেননি। ঢাকি ও শিবসা নদীর মোহনায় কামিনীবাসিয়া পুরাতন পুলিশ ক্যাম্প-সংলগ্ন ওই এলাকায় বেড়িবাঁধের অংশ খুব বেশি দুর্বল ছিল না। তবে বেশ কিছুটা নিচু হওয়ায় উচ্চ জোয়ারের চাপে পানি বেড়িবাঁধ ছাপিয়ে ভেতরে ঢোকে। এরপর বেড়িবাঁধের পাঁচটি পয়েন্ট ভেঙে যায়।
বরগুনা: ঘূর্ণিঝড় রিমালের প্রভাবে বরগুনার প্রধান তিন নদ-নদীতে স্বাভাবিক জোয়ারের চেয়ে পাঁচ থেকে সাত ফুট উচ্চতার জোয়ার প্রবাহিত হয়েছে। জলোচ্ছ্বাসে জেলা শহরসহ সেখানকার উপকূলের অনেক গ্রাম পানিতে প্লাবিত হয়েছে। সদর উপজেলা এম বালিয়াতলী ইউনিয়নের পালের বালিয়াতলী ও বদরখালী ইউনিয়নের বাওয়ালকর এলাকায় বাঁধ ভেঙে ১০-১২টি গ্রাম প্লাবিত হয়েছে।
গতকাল রাত সাড়ে আটটার দিকে ঘূর্ণিঝড় রিমাল উপকূলে আঘাত হানে। এতে দীর্ঘ সময় ধরে বরগুনায় ঝোড়ো বাতাস বয়ে যায়, গাছ উপড়ে পড়ে। বরগুনা সদর উপজেলার বাসিন্দা নজরুল ইসলাম বলেন, ‘আমাদের বাড়ির পাশের খালে অস্বাভাবিক পানি বেড়েছে।’
