দেশের সব প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, উচ্চমাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা ও কারিগরি শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান আগামীকাল বৃহস্পতিবার পর্যন্ত বন্ধ রাখতে আদালত নির্দেশ দিলেও আজ বুধবার বিকেল পর্যন্ত লিখিত আদেশ পায়নি বলে জানিয়েছে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়। এ অবস্থায় আগামীকাল শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতাধীন মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, উচ্চমাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা ও কারিগরি শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান বন্ধ বা খোলা থাকবে কি না, সে বিষয়ে মন্ত্রণালয় কোনো প্রশাসনিক আদেশ দেয়নি।
ফলে শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতাধীন শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠানগুলো আগামীকাল বন্ধ নাকি খোলা থাকবে, তা নিয়ে একধরনের বিভ্রান্তি রয়ে গেছে। যদিও শিক্ষা মন্ত্রণালয়ের আওতাধীন বিভিন্ন শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান নিজেদের মতো করে আগামীকাল ছুটি ঘোষণা করেছে। যেমন ঢাকার ভিকারুননিসা নূন স্কুল অ্যান্ড কলেজ, মতিঝিলের আইডিয়াল স্কুল অ্যান্ড কলেজ, রাজউক উত্তরা মডেল কলেজ, ইস্কাটনের এজি চার্চ স্কুল।
ভিকারুননিসা নূন স্কুল অ্যান্ড কলেজের ভারপ্রাপ্ত অধ্যক্ষ কেকা রায় চৌধুরী আজ বিকেলে প্রথম আলোকে বলেন, হাইকোর্ট ২ মে পর্যন্ত শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান বন্ধ রাখার নির্দেশ দিয়েছেন। কিন্তু শিক্ষা বিভাগ থেকে আপিল করা হয়নি, আবার নতুন কোনো আদেশও দেয়নি। তাই তাঁরা আগামীকাল স্কুল বন্ধ রাখবেন।
পবিত্র রমজান, ঈদুল ফিতর ও পয়লা বৈশাখের দীর্ঘ ছুটি শেষে গত ২১ এপ্রিল স্কুল–কলেজ খোলার কথা থাকলেও দেশজুড়ে তাপপ্রবাহের কারণে তা এক সপ্তাহ পিছিয়ে যায়। গত রোববার স্কুল–কলেজ চালু হলে শিক্ষার্থীরা অনেক দিন পর ক্লাসে ফেরে। তবে প্রচণ্ড গরমে বিভিন্ন স্থানে শিক্ষক–শিক্ষার্থীদের অসুস্থ হয়ে পড়ার খবর পাওয়া যায়।
গরমে অসুস্থ হয়ে শিক্ষকসহ কয়েকজনের মৃত্যুর ঘটনা নিয়ে বিভিন্ন গণমাধ্যমে প্রকাশিত প্রতিবেদন গত সোমবার হাইকোর্টের নজরে আনা হয়। এরপর শুনানি নিয়ে বিচারপতি কে এম কামরুল কাদের ও বিচারপতি খিজির হায়াতের সমন্বয়ে গঠিত হাইকোর্ট বেঞ্চ স্বতঃপ্রণোদিত রুলসহ আদেশ দেন। আদেশে চলমান তাপপ্রবাহের পরিপ্রেক্ষিতে সব প্রাথমিক ও মাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, উচ্চমাধ্যমিক বিদ্যালয়, কলেজ, মাদ্রাসা ও কারিগরি শিক্ষাপ্রতিষ্ঠান ২ মে (আগামীকাল বৃহস্পতিবার) পর্যন্ত বন্ধ রাখতে নির্দেশ দেওয়া হয়।
