তিন মাস আগে ইসলামী বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের লালন শাহ হলে এক নবীন ছাত্রকে বিবস্ত্র করে র্যাগিং ও নির্যাতনের ঘটনা ঘটে। বিষয়টি নিয়ে হল কর্তৃপক্ষ ও বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন কর্তৃক পৃথক দুইটি তদন্ত কমিটি করা হয়। তদন্তে ঘটনার সত্যতা পায় কমিটি। গত এপ্রিলে কর্তৃপক্ষের কাছে তদন্ত প্রতিবেদন জমা দেয় তারা। একইসঙ্গে শাস্তির সুপারিশও করা হয়। তবে প্রতিবেদন জমা দেয়ার ৩ সপ্তাহ পেরিয়ে গেলেও চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়নি কর্তৃপক্ষ। ঘটনা ধামাচাপা দিতে কর্তৃপক্ষ সিদ্ধান্তে ঢিলেমি করছে বলে অভিযোগ শিক্ষার্থীদের। তথ্যমতে, চলতি বছরের ৭ই ফেব্রুয়ারি লালন শাহ হলের গণরুমে (১৩৬ নম্বর কক্ষে) নবীন ছাত্রকে র্যাগিংয়ের অভিযোগ ওঠে। ভুক্তভোগী আল-ফিকহ অ্যান্ড লিগ্যাল স্টাডিজ বিভাগের ২০২২-২৩ শিক্ষাবর্ষের শিক্ষার্থী। ওইদিন রাত সাড়ে ১২টা থেকে ভোর সাড়ে ৪টা পর্যন্ত দফায় দফায় তার ওপর নির্যাতন চালানো হয় এবং ভয় দেখিয়ে বারবার বিছানাপত্র বাইরে ফেলে দেয়া হয় বলে জানায় ভুক্তভোগী।
নির্যাতনের সময় উলঙ্গ করে বেঞ্চের উপর দাঁড় করিয়ে রাখা, বারংবার রড দিয়ে আঘাত, অকথ্য ভাষায় গালিগালাজ ও নাকে খত দেয়া হয় বলেও অভিযোগ করেন তিনি।
ঘটনা প্রকাশ্যে এলে ১৩ই ফেব্রুয়ারি পৃথকভাবে তদন্ত কমিটি করে বিশ্ববিদ্যালয় প্রশাসন ও সংশ্লিষ্ট হল কর্তৃপক্ষ। এরপর এপ্রিলের প্রথম সপ্তাহে প্রশাসনের তদন্ত কমিটি ও ২২শে এপ্রিল হল কর্তৃপক্ষের গঠিত তদন্ত কমিটি প্রতিবেদন জমা দেয়। তদন্তের প্রতিবেদনে ঘটনার সত্যতা পাওয়া যায় বলে জানায় সূত্র। ফলে জড়িতদের বিরুদ্ধে বিধি অনুযায়ী ব্যবস্থা গ্রহণের সুপারিশ করা হয়। তবে এখন পর্যন্ত বিষয়টি নিয়ে চূড়ান্ত সিদ্ধান্তে পৌঁছাতে পারেনি কর্তৃপক্ষ। এতে মিশ্র প্রতিক্রিয়া ব্যক্ত করেছে শিক্ষার্থী ও সচেতন মহল। দ্রুত বিষয়টির সুরাহা করার দাবি তাদের।
তদন্ত কমিটির প্রতিবেদনে র্যাগিংয়ের ঘটনায় গুরুতর অভিযুক্ত হিসেবে শারীরিক শিক্ষা ও ক্রীড়াবিজ্ঞান বিভাগের মুদাচ্ছির খান কাফী ও ইসলামের ইতিহাস ও সংস্কৃতি বিভাগের মোহাম্মদ সাগরের নাম উঠে আসে। এ ছাড়া ইতিহাস বিভাগের উজ্জ্বল হোসেনের কম সংশ্লিষ্টতা ছিল বলে জানা যায়। তারা সবাই ২০২১-২২ সেশনের শিক্ষার্থী। প্রশাসন কর্তৃক গঠিত তদন্ত কমিটির আহ্বায়ক ড. দেবাশীষ শর্মা বলেন, গত ঈদের ছুটির আগেই আমরা ঘটনার তদন্ত প্রতিবেদন কর্তৃপক্ষের নিকট জমা দিয়েছি। সিদ্ধান্তের বিষয়ে কর্তৃপক্ষ ভালো বলতে পারবে। প্রক্টর ড. শাহাদৎ হোসেন আজাদ বলেন, বিশ্ববিদ্যালয়ের ভর্তি পরীক্ষাসহ নানাবিধ ব্যস্ততায় বিষয়টা একটু পিছিয়ে গেছে। তবে হয়তো খুব দ্রুত এই বিষয়ে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হবে। এই বিষয়ে রেজিস্ট্রার (ভারপ্রাপ্ত) এইচএম আলী হাসান বলেন, এখনো ছাত্র-শৃঙ্খলা কমিটির সভা হয়নি। কিছুদিনের মধ্যে শৃঙ্খলা কমিটির সভা ডাকা হবে। সেখানে তদন্ত রিপোর্টের আলোকে সিদ্ধান্ত নেয়া হবে।
