গাজীপুরের জয়দেবপুর স্টেশনের এক কিলোমিটার দক্ষিণে ছোট দেওড়া এলাকায় দাঁড়িয়ে থাকা তেলবাহী ট্রেন ও যাত্রীবাহী টাঙ্গাইল কমিউটার ট্রেনের সংঘর্ষের ঘটনার ২১ ঘণ্টা পরও উদ্ধারকাজ শেষ হয়নি। ডাবল লাইনের ঢাকা-জয়দেবপুর রেলপথের একটি দিয়ে ট্রেন চলাচল করছে।
উদ্ধার কার্যক্রম শুরু হয় গতকাল শুক্রবার বিকেল চারটার দিকে। আজ শনিবার সকাল নয়টায় শেষ খবর পাওয়া পর্যন্ত কাজ চলছে।
রেলওয়ে সূত্রে জানা গেছে, গতকাল সকাল ১০টা ৫০ মিনিটে এই সংঘর্ষের ঘটনার পর জয়দেবপুর স্টেশন দিয়ে ঢাকার সঙ্গে উত্তর-পশ্চিম রেললাইনে ট্রেন চলাচল প্রায় আড়াই ঘণ্টা বন্ধ থাকে। বিকেলে রিলিফ ট্রেন ঘটনাস্থলে পৌঁছার পর উদ্ধার তৎপরতা শুরু হয়। এ ঘটনায় দুটি ট্রেনের ৯টি বগি লাইনচ্যুত ও চারজন আহত হন। এ ছাড়া টাঙ্গাইল কমিউটার ট্রেনের পেছনের অংশের অক্ষত বগিগুলো বিকল্প ইঞ্জিনের মাধ্যমে দুর্ঘটনাস্থল থেকে সরিয়ে ফেলা হয়। রাতভর উদ্ধার অভিযানে তেলবাহী ওয়াগনের লাইনচ্যুত পাঁচটি বগির মধ্যে তিনটি অপসারণ করে পাশের স্টেশনে সরিয়ে নেওয়া হয়েছে।
যাত্রীবাহী টাঙ্গাইল কমিউটার ট্রেনের ক্ষতিগ্রস্ত চারটি বগি এখনো রেললাইনের পাশে ফেলে রাখা হয়েছে। দুটি ইঞ্জিন ও ওয়াগনের দুটি বগি উদ্ধারে তৎপরতা চলছে। রেলওয়ের উদ্ধারকারী দলের দাবি, এক-দেড় ঘণ্টার মধ্যে পুরো উদ্ধার তৎপরতা সম্পন্ন হবে।
সংঘর্ষের ঘটনায় আহত ব্যক্তিদের মধ্যে তিনজনকে গাজীপুরের শহীদ তাজউদ্দীন আহমদ মেডিকেল কলেজ হাসপাতালের সার্জারি বিভাগে ভর্তি করা হয়েছে। তাঁরা হলেন টাঙ্গাইল কমিউটার ট্রেনের চালক (লোকোমোটিভ মাস্টার) হাবিবুর রহমান, সহকারী চালক সবুজ হাসান ও যাত্রী শরীফ মাহমুদ।
তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন
এই ঘটনা তদন্তে জেলা প্রশাসন ও রেলওয়ে কর্তৃপক্ষ আলাদা তিনটি তদন্ত কমিটি গঠন করেছে। বরখাস্ত করা হয়েছে রেলওয়ের তিনজন কর্মচারীকে।
ঘটনার পর গাজীপুরের জেলা প্রশাসক (ডিসি) আবুল ফাতে মোহাম্মদ সফিকুল ইসলাম বলেন, সিগন্যাল ভুল ও যান্ত্রিক ত্রুটির কারণে এ দুর্ঘটনা ঘটেছে বলে প্রাথমিকভাবে ধারণা করা হচ্ছে। তবে তদন্তের পর প্রকৃত ঘটনা বেরিয়ে আসবে।
