মানিকগঞ্জে প্রেমিকের সঙ্গে ঘুরতে গিয়ে ধর্ষণের শিকার হয়েছে নবম শ্রেণির এক ছাত্রী। এ সময় স্থানীয় লোকজন টের পেয়ে এক ধর্ষককে আটক করে পুলিশে সোপর্দ করেছেন। পরে পুলিশ আরও একজনকে গ্রেপ্তার করেছে। এ ঘটনায় ভিকটিমের পরিবারের পক্ষ থেকে রোববার সকালে সদর থানায় তিন জনকে আসামি করে একটি মামলা করা হয়েছে।
শনিবার রাত সাড়ে ১০টার দিকে পৌর এলাকার জরিনা কলেজ মোড়ের পাশে বড় সুরুণ্ডি এলাকার একটি শসা খেতে এই ঘটনা ঘটে। সদর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) হাবিল হোসেন এ ঘটনার সত্যতা নিশ্চিত করে জানিয়েছেন, ধর্ষণের ঘটনায় ধর্ষক সাব্বিরসহ তার সহযোগী মহিউদ্দিন ইসলামকে গ্রেপ্তার করে আদালতে সোপর্দ করা হয়েছে। সূত্রমতে, সদর উপজেলার একটি উচ্চ বিদ্যালয়ের নবম শ্রেণি পড়ুয়া এক ছাত্রী শনিবার বিকালে তার প্রেমিক রনি (১৮)’র সঙ্গে বেউথা ব্রিজ এলাকায় ঘুরতে আসে। সেখান থেকে ফেরার পথে রাত সাড়ে ৯টার দিকে সুজাঘাট ব্রিজ এলাকায় আসামি বোয়ালিয়া গ্রামের মো. সাইয়েদুরের ছেলে সাব্বির (২০) তাদের পথরোধ করে ভয়ভীতি দেখায়। একপর্যায়ে ওই স্কুলছাত্রীকে প্রেমিকের কাছ থেকে জোরপূর্বক ছিনিয়ে নিয়ে জরিনা কলেজ মোড়ের পাশের কৃষিজমিতে নিয়ে যৌন নিপীড়ন চালায়। এসময় তার সহযোগী একই এলাকার সুরুণ্ডি গ্রামের জোসন মিয়ার ছেলে জাহিদ মিয়া (১৮), নয়াকান্দি এলাকার মামুন ইসলামের ছেলে মহিউদ্দিন ইসলাম (১৮) উপস্থিত ছিল।
পরে স্থানীয় লোকজনের উপস্থিতি টের পেয়ে ধর্ষক ওই ছাত্রীকে তার প্রেমিকের কাছে ফিরিয়ে দেয়। পরে স্থানীয় লোকজন তাদেরকে আটক করে পুলিশে খবর দিলে পুলিশ গিয়ে তাদেরকে থানায় নিয়ে আসে।
এ বিষয়ে সদর থানার ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা (ওসি) হাবিল হোসেন বলেন, এ ঘটনায় ভুক্তভোগী স্কুলছাত্রীর নানি বাদী হয়ে তিন জনের বিরুদ্ধে (সংশোধিত ২০২০) নারী ও শিশু নির্যাতন দমন আইনে একটি মামলা করেছেন। আসামিদের গ্রেপ্তার করে আদালতে প্রেরণ করা হয়েছে।
