চুয়াডাঙ্গা জেলায় ইতিহাসে সর্বোচ্চ ৪৩.৭ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস তাপমাত্রা রেকর্ড করা হয়েছে। আজ মঙ্গলবার বেলা ৩টায় চুয়াডাঙ্গার আবহাওয়া অফিস এ তাপমাত্রা রেকর্ড করে। চলতি মৌসুমের সর্বোচ্চ তাপমাত্রার রেকর্ডও এটি। এর আগে ২০১৪ সালের ২১শে মে ৪৩ দশমিক ২ এবং ২০০৫ সালের ২রা জুন ও চলতি বছর ২৯শে এপ্রিল ৪৩ ডিগ্রি সেলসিয়াস তাপমাত্রা রেকর্ড করা হয়। চুয়াডাঙ্গা আবহাওয়া অফিসের ভারপ্রাপ্ত কর্মকর্তা জামিনুর রহমান জানান, চুয়াডাঙ্গা জেলার ইতিহাসে এতো তাপমাত্রা কখনও রেকর্ড হয়নি। তিনি বলেন, তাপমাত্রার পারদ স্বাভাবিক পর্যায়ে আসতে আরো কয়েকদিন অপেক্ষা করতে হবে।
উল্লেখ্য, তীব্র তাপপ্রবাহে অতিষ্ঠ জনজীবন। বৃষ্টির জন্য চলছে হাহাকার, প্রার্থনা। গত ৭৬ বছরের রেকর্ড ভেঙেছে এবারের তাপপ্রবাহ। তবে এরই মধ্যে সুখবর দিল আবহাওয়া অধিদপ্তর। বলা হয়েছে, আগামীকাল থেকে দাবদাহ কমবে এবং দু-তিন দিনের মধ্যে দেশজুড়ে হতে পারে বৃষ্টি।
আবহাওয়াবিদ আবুল কালাম মল্লিক বলেন, মে মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহ দেশজুড়ে টানা বৃষ্টির সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে। বিশেষ করে সিলেট, চট্টগ্রাম, বরিশাল, ময়মনসিংহ ও ঢাকা বিভাগে এই বৃষ্টির প্রকোপ বেশি থাকবে। এপ্রিলের বাকি দুদিনও থাকবে তাপপ্রবাহের দাপট। তবে মে মাসের প্রথম সপ্তাহ দেশজুড়ে টানা বৃষ্টির সম্ভাবনা রয়েছে।
মঙ্গলবার সকাল ৯টা থেকে পরবর্তী ২৪ ঘণ্টার আবহাওয়ার পূর্বাভাসে বলা হয়েছে, চট্টগ্রাম ও সিলেট বিভাগের দু-এক জায়গায় অস্থায়ীভাবে দমকা অথবা ঝড়ো হাওয়াসহ বৃষ্টি অথবা বজ্রসহ বৃষ্টি হতে পারে। সেই সঙ্গে কোথাও কোথাও বিক্ষিপ্তভাবে শিলাবৃষ্টি হতে পারে। এছাড়া দেশের অন্যত্র অস্থায়ীভাবে আংশিক মেঘলা আকাশসহ আবহাওয়া প্রধানত শুষ্ক থাকতে পারে।
